Our Literacy Buddy Program is taking off- thanks to a generous Southwest Florida community! Companies like Busey Bank, Hertz,  and Humana; social and civic groups such as Pi Beta Phi Fort Myers Alumnae, LaBelle Woman’s Club and others – books for this program have been pouring in. These books have been added in to our Literacy Buddy Library, and also distributed to the preschools we serve.

Lehigh Childcare Center and Paz Family Child Care Home were among the many preschool providers receiving “big checks” from their successful application for funds from the Phase VI Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Grants.  These funds have provided resources and support to help early child care and education providers remain open or re-open, pay parent co-pays and provide mini-grants to providers and educators to help them continue to enhance their skills and classroom environments for both safety and high-quality learning.

Something’s in the air at Deana’s Country Kids in North Fort Myers – it’s a butterfly garden! Learning about nature and life cycles is important to encourage children’s curiosity.  Butterflies are an excellent example of an observable life cycle.  Respect for nature and how it works learned from a young age promotes the preservation of our world and appreciation of outdoors. Garden construction was facilitated with a grant administered through the Early Learning coalition SWFL.
