Program Services Specialist I

Status:  Full–Time Non-Exempt Position

 Opening Available for Program Services Specialist I (Fort Myers Location)

Essential Responsibilities

  • Verify and approve VPK eligibility and VPK enrollments in accordance with Florida statute,
  • Administrative code and state and local policies and procedures
  • Responds to request for information and provides in-person, on-line, email and telephone consultations with family for information regarding School Readiness and Child Care Resource
  • and Referral (CCR&R) on rules, policies and procedures and community resources including referrals available in the local community
  • Completes all assigned work queues
  • Review and verify information in the statewide database system to ensure accuracy
  • On a rotating work schedule, is responsible for front desk duties to include:

o Answer a multi-line phone

o Assist walk-ins with the online registration process (VPK and SR)

o Assists clients with kiosk functions such as scanning

o Communicate with other staff via telephone/email

o Maintain lobby area

o Maintain strict privacy client data

  • Communicates with outside agencies, as needed
  • Communicates with clients and providers to assure program compliance
  • Accesses, understands, and utilizes the statewide wait list system
  • Communicates with child care providers regarding child enrollment, attendance and eligibility as necessary
  • Offers referrals for services available in the local community
  • Participate in VPK Roundups
  • Completes clerical duties, as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree in Social Services or equivalent field, preferred; or HS Diploma or equivalent required and six (6) months related experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may substitute for requirement
