The Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida (ELC of SWFL) is one of thirty such organizations who administer the statewide Voluntary Prekindergarten and School Readiness programs. According to Florida Statute, 1002.83, which defines the governance of our organization, two members of the board represent early providers. In a multi county coalition, (we serve Hendry, Glades, Lee, and Collier Counties), these two member seats rotate throughout the service delivery area every four years. In January 2022, the faith based childcare position rotates to Hendry or Glades County and the for-profit childcare position rotates to Lee County.
Service on the ELC of SWFL Board means a commitment to attend at the six scheduled board meetings each year, and to serve on one of the board’s committees. Committees typically meet 5-6 times each year. Members may attend board and committee meetings virtually. The meeting schedule and information about the board and its activities can be found on our website at www.ELCofSWFL.org.
If you wish to be considered to represent faith-based child care providers (Hendry or Glades) or for-profit childcare (Lee County) on our board kindly submit your application, found at https://elcofswfl.org/index.php/early-learning-coaliton-board-membership-application/, no later than October 15, 2021.
The Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida Board of Directors represents both public and private sector business leaders from Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee Counties. The ELC Board of Directors meets bi-monthly at the Early Learning Coalition Office. The public is invited to attend.
Public comments are accepted during a specified time at the beginning and end of the meeting. Please see agenda.
