Learning Objectives: Phrase requests thoughtfully, using positive “what to do and why” wording with positives in both segments and Creative a classroom visual aid that helps acknowledge what’s going well so the focus is on positives and building from there (strength based approach)
- Note: In weeks #1 & 2, we practice skills and bring back stories of success or concerns to discuss each of the following sessions. In Week #3, we continue weaving these skills into not just our words and actions but also practice our written ability to make clear, positive goals & objectives/benchmarks. We will each actively work on these in our daily lives so we can discuss success or concerns the following Week #4. (Once adults see how hard it is to follow through on their OWN goals that they made for their own habit changes, they tend to become more patient with children who aren’t changing their ways fast enough.) Also prior to Week #4, we will discuss possibilities for creating the “Catch Them Being Good” visual aids in our final week. Everyone will bring what they created and share their stories on implementation. The intent will be for each person to create something they truly use at home or in their worksite to remind themselves and others to keep the focus on using POSITIVE guidance strategies.
