Supporting social problem-solving empowers children to resolve disagreements in more independent and effective ways. To solve problems, children need a variety of skills, such as
taking others’ perspectives and recognizing how their actions affect others. But young children are still learning to take the perspective of others. The Problem Solver solution kit helps
children understand the steps to find fair solutions. This session reviews the Problem Solver Solution Kit, providing structured strategies and materials to help children practice addressing peer conflicts. Teachers will have the strategies to intentionally model and support children through effective problem-solving strategies so that, over time, children learn that conflicts can be resolved.
