The VPK program is a free prekindergarten program for 4 and 5-year-olds who live in Florida. Children must be 4 years of age on or before September 1. Parents can enroll their child in the state’s free, voluntary prekindergarten (VPK) education program that year or wait until the following year when their child is 5.

If you live in Florida and your child turned 4 years old on or before September 1, your child is eligible for the VPK program. Some 5-year-olds are eligible depending on their birth date.
School Year Program – 540 instructional hours. Summer Program – 300 instructional hours.
Enrollment Requirements:
Parents must complete a VPK application online by clicking on the Florida Early Learning Portal link here, or on the home page on this website, or at your nearest ELC Office.
Upload the child’s original birth certificate, passport, or immunization record signed by a physician.
Upload Proof of Florida Residency (e.g. electric bill, driver’s license, or pay stub with address).
