Sexual Development in Young Children

The goal of this workshop is to help Early Childhood teachers identify appropriate sexual behaviors in young children, and determine when behaviors they observe indicate possible sexual abuse.  Additionally, the session puts forth strategies to effectively address sexual behaviors in young children when they are exhibited in the early childhood classroom.

The learning outcomes for this session are as follows:

1. Participants will be able to identify a minimum of three typical and appropriate sexual behaviors in young children that they may encounter in the classroom.
2. Participants will be able to articulate at least two strategies they can implement to address appropriate and typical behaviors in young children, and communicate with families about the behaviors that have been observed.
