Registration is underway for the Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program for children in Lee, Collier, Glades and Hendry counties. The VPK program is free for every 4-year old in the state of Florida. Some 5-year olds are also eligible, depending on their birth date.

A parent or guardian may learn more about the VPK program and start the enrollment process online by logging onto https://familyservices.floridaearlylearning.com/ and following the instructions. The process involves electronically submitting proof of Florida residency and the child’s birth certificate or other approved records.

The Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida serves the families of Lee, Collier, Glades and Henry counties and is ready to provide assistance to parents/guardians in navigating the enrollment process. The Coalition’s offices are located on the third floor of 2675 Winkler Ave. in Fort Myers, or at 3050 N. Horseshoe, Unit 231 in Naples. Contact the Coalition at (239) 935-6100 or visit ELCofSWFL.org for more information.

The VPK program is free for every Florida child who turns 4 years old by September 1 of the current school year. If that child’s fourth birthday falls between February 2 through September 1, parents may decide to delay enrollment until their child turns 5. Families have the option of enrolling their child into the school year program (540 hours) or the summer program (300 hours).
